6. Montgomery, AL to Wichita, KS; September 10-12, 2010

We got outstanding news at the end of JAG School:  My section, Charlie Flight, won the trophy for athletic competitions.  And Kris was pregnant.  We didn’t tell everyone right away; most people didn’t know that there was a trophy at stake.  But Kris made it Facebook official the day we were set to leave our nine-week Alabama honeymoon for our new home in Wichita, KS.

Notice that in her Facebook photo she’s pointing at the trophy and not her belly.

Eager to get to our new home, start a new job, and begin life as soon-to-be parents, we drove without a plan.  We stopped when we were hungry and slept when we were tired.  We pulled in to McConnell AFB, KS on September 12 which we were excited about because of the prairies.  We checked in to billeting, went to get something to eat, found everything on the base was closed, and went to bed.

Days on the road this trip: 3
