16. Wichita, KS to Northridge, CA; December 12 – 15, 2011

In early December, we learned where we would be moving the following summer.  The Air Force selected Anchorage, Alaska for our next assignment.  Ecstatic, we went to the Kansas wind tree farm to cut down another tree, this time with Zach.

The trees were still painted and angled, but Zach didn’t care.

Just over a month after we left Northridge, my grandmother, who had been sick, passed away.  We flew back for her service and a short pre-Christmas celebration with my family.

Though it was a somber time, we got to hangout seven hours in a USO on the way out, see my nephew’s Christmas play, and buy and decorate a tree.

Zach watched California rain and licked the fudge off the beaters.  We said goodbye to my family again, knowing that we would stop back through in the summer on our drive from Kansas to Alaska.

We couldn’t wait to get spend time in the USO.

Days on the road this trip: 4
