We drove from the ferry in Haines through the Canadian border and crossed into the Yukon Territory. We stopped for some coffee and spent the night at Haines Junction, YT. The northern territory was sparse and beautiful.
We were on the road for about 40 minutes the next morning and had seen only one other car in that time. Up ahead, I thought I saw a person walking along the road. As we got closer, I saw that he was quite hairy. And walking on all fours.
We awoke early, drove the rest of the way through the Yukon and back into Alaska. A stop for the evening in Tok, a beautiful view of some glaciers, and we pulled onto Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, our new home.
Our sixteen day road trip was complete. Time to move into a new house, start a new job, and get ready for our second baby.
