37a. Anchorage, AK to Haines, AK; July 8 – 15, 2014

We said goodbye to Anchorage and we started our trek to Indiana.  We drove north to Denali.

The majestic views and cool weather were perfect.  We spent two days at the park, hiking and learning.

We then made our way to Fairbanks and North Pole, AK.  Zach and I got an Alaska Baseball League game and shared a frosty from Wendy’s.  We got an ornament and a picture with Santa at the exceedingly kitschy Christmas store.

We then drove into the Yukon Territory.  We stayed in a run-down motel, saw a bear, and stopped at wretched public toilets to help Zach’s potty training.

And we made it back into the US, in Haines, AK; hours early for our ferry.  We went grocery shopping and read books at the library.  We went back to the docks and prepared to board.
