66c. Ottawa, ON to Montreal, QC; February 5, 2017

The kids bounded down for an early breakfast in their pjs (as they’re allowed to do on the last day of a trip).  First oatmeal, then a chocolate muffin or Froot Loops.

We got dressed and went to Winterlude a final time before leaving Ottawa.  We got there as it opened at 8:30.  The kids got to play in the ice castle.  The sculptures, nearly finished, were spectacular and a far cry from the Friday night rough-hewn blocks of ice. Zach’s favorite one was still the train.

We went back to Rideau Canal for some ice walking.  The falling snow made the kids sure-footed and they walked, holding hands, toward Parliament Hill.

The snow began to fall harder.  We walked back, checked out, and drove to the Canadian Museum of Aviation and Space.

This is a wonderful museum for kids.  Zach & Anna had a kids-specific tour where a docent told them about different aircraft and spacecraft; and gave them a workbook where they could glue and color the things they learned.  Ella also enjoyed the museum, spending 15 minutes in her Flintstones type bi-plane.

We bought a patch, the first museum-specific patch we’d found in Canada, and made the two-hour trek home in the snow. We stopped at Tim Horton’s for doughnuts on the way home.

Total days on the road this trip: 3
