71c. Truro, NS to Baddeck, NS; July 18 – 19, 2017

We drove onto the Cabot Trail the next day; from Truro to Cheticamp.  We stayed at Laurie’s Inn just on the edge of Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

Ella’s fever persisted, so we went to bed early.

The next morning, we ate at the hotel’s buffet and drove the 15 minutes to the park’s entrance.  We got maps, kids’ adventure books, and new kids binoculars for Zach and Anna.  We drove 10 more minutes before we made it to the first beach we wanted to see.

We were the only ones there.  We played, threw rocks, and Kris took pictures.

We drove up to the bog hike.  The kids loved the bug eating pitcher plants and made good use of their binoculars.

We drove around the north end of the park and stopped again when we could see the ocean.

We hit Ingonish Beach for a few minutes.  Zach and Anna enjoyed the waves.  Ella did not.

We were tired.  We drove on to our hotel in Baddeck.  We ate dinner on the deck.  We had ice cream and live music for dessert.  The musician saw the kids and played Puff the Magic Dragon.  Anna’s new favorite song.

Ella’s fever had dissipated.  We slept hard.
